Metro Detroit schools ask voters to OK funds for upgrades | detnews.com | The Detroit News

Metro Detroit schools try to sneak tax increases past the voters to line their own pockets and provide unnecessary equipment for teachers, schools, unions and other corrupt elements of the education establishment.

If this was really a valid request, these people would have well publicized, open meetings held in widely accessible facilities for all affected taxpayers to explain why these materials are necessary.

However, the authorities in Grass Lake Community Schools, Jackson and Washtenaw Counties, Michigan, who want to borrow the sum of not to exceed One Million Seven Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($1,750,000) and the authorities in Pinckney Community Schools, Livingston and Washtenaw Counties, Michigan, borrow the sum of not to exceed Fifty-Nine Million Four Hundred Sixty-Five Thousand Dollars ($59,465,000) are not willing to disclose, in any substantive detail, their reason for spending this money nor are they willing to provide a detailed manifest of what will be purchased with this money.

These are called "Stealth Millage Elections" and are Unethical (at best) and Immoral (at worst).

The authorities responsible for trying to sneak these millages past the electorate should be ashamed of themselves and removed from office, immediately.

The milliage elections should be cancelled until the proper notice can be given to the community. Then, once the community is educated, an election may be held, but the milliage should have to be approved by more than 50% of the REGISTERED voters, not just 50% of the people who vote.

This deliberate abuse of the taxpayers must stop. NOW!
